The Challenge

The science was never the hard part.

ScienceWerx exists to bridge the gap between brilliant research and market-ready solutions. That mission only works if the ecosystem around it — people, programs, and funding — is something you can actually operate.

01

Research that stops at the lab door

A discovery can be sound and still go nowhere. Between a published result and a market-ready solution sits funding, partnership, and technology transfer — none of it a single, visible path.

02

Six audiences, one front door

A researcher, a fellow, an investor, a university, a government, and an early adopter all arrive at the same site wanting completely different things from it.

03

An ecosystem run by hand

Task force applications, fellowship intakes, donations, sponsorships, and grant reporting all generate records. Kept in inboxes and spreadsheets, they stop being an ecosystem and start being admin.

The Public Platform

One front door for a global ecosystem.

Programmes, partners, funding, publishing, and hiring on one platform — where every route in is a guided path rather than a contact address.

Audience-first entry

The homepage leads with who you are — investor, researcher, institution — and rewrites its pitch and its call to action to match.

Programs & Task Forces

Nine task forces presented on one consistent template, so a visitor can compare them and apply without relearning the page each time.

Global Ecosystem

Partners, institutions, and members shown as one connected network rather than a logo wall.

Invest & Donate

Two very different intents — backing a venture and giving to a nonprofit — handled side by side without either getting buried.

Fellowships & applications

Apply to join a task force, sponsor one, or apply for a fellowship: three clear routes in, each a guided form rather than an email address.

Blog & Careers

Publishing and hiring built into the same system, so momentum in the ecosystem is visible from the outside.

Task Forces

Nine programs, one shape.

Each task force is published from the same template, so joining, sponsoring, or comparing them is the same motion every time — alongside the EverGreen Fund and STEM workforce initiatives.

The Portal

The whole solution, managed
from one place.

Behind the public platform sits a portal the team runs the ecosystem from. Everything a visitor can start — an application, a sponsorship, a donation, a job — lands here as a record someone owns, in the same system that publishes the site.

Task forces

Create a program, publish it, and manage everyone inside it.

Applications

Every application to join, sponsor, or apply for a fellowship in one queue.

Members & ecosystem

The partner and member directory that the public network view is drawn from.

Donations & investment

Contributions and funding commitments tracked against the program they support.

Grant reporting

Outcomes and accountability recorded where the funding decision was made.

Content

Blog posts and site copy published straight to the public platform.

Careers

Roles posted, applications received, candidates moved through stages.

Accounts & roles

One identity per person, with permissions that match what they do here.

One record, from public application to funded outcome
Design Decisions

Four choices that shaped the platform.

One platform that changes its mind about you

Rather than six landing pages, the homepage carries an audience switcher. The organization says one thing; the platform decides which part of it you need first.

Nine task forces, one template

Each program gets the same structure — remit, who it's for, how to join, who backs it. Consistency is what makes a portfolio of nine legible instead of overwhelming.

The application is the record

Applying on the public site creates the same record the team works from in the portal. No re-entry, no separate inbox, no version that's more true than the other.

Dark, but readable

The science aesthetic is deep navy and high contrast. We held every text and control to accessible contrast on that ground, so the look never costs anyone the content.

Where It Stands

A public platform and an operating system for the same mission.

Researchers, fellows, investors, and institutions each get a route in that speaks to them, and the team gets one portal where those routes arrive as work. Programmes, funding, and content are managed in the same place they're published from — so the ecosystem can grow without the admin growing with it.

Results

What changed.

Outcomes

  • Researchers, fellows, investors and institutions each get a route in that speaks to them.
  • Those routes arrive as work in one portal instead of as email to sort out.
  • Programs, funding and content are managed in the same place they're published from.
  • Nine task forces run on the same operating model, so adding the next one isn't a new build.
